Snip starts from a long video (YouTube link or file, up to 4 hours), transcribes it, selects the passages, reframes to 9:16 with speaker tracking and captions the result. It only outputs vertical and it does not publish.
On the free side StreamLadder is more permissive on one specific point: their site states that basic edits carry no watermark, one appearing only if you use a paid feature. In exchange, 1080p is advertised on their Gold tier, while Snip exports 1080p from the free plan, watermarked.

If you stream, this settles quickly.
- Your sources are Twitch or Kick clips: that is their native entry path, by pasting a URL. Snip only takes a YouTube link or a file.
- You want output beyond vertical: they also produce 16:9 and 1:1. Snip only does 9:16.
- You need the tools around streaming: emote maker, montage maker, stream schedule maker, clip downloader. Snip has none of those.
- You want to publish and schedule to TikTok, Reels and Shorts from the tool.
- You want to try without a watermark: their site states a basic edit carries none on any plan. Snip's free plan does watermark.
When Snip is the better choice
If your starting file is long and spoken, not a clip that is already cut.
- Your source is a podcast, an interview or a talk running hours: Snip accepts up to 4 hours and works from the transcript.
- You want to cut by reading: delete a sentence in the transcript and it leaves the clip, along with filler words and dead air.
- You want 1080p without paying: that is the case from Snip's free plan, while 1080p is advertised on their Gold tier.
- You want the price before creating an account: 15, 30 and 60 EUR a month are published, while their amounts did not render on their pricing page the day we checked.
- You want an interface in French as well as English.
What the pricing actually changes
We do not publish StreamLadder's amounts. Their pricing page renders client-side and we could not read a figure on 9 August 2026; their own pages name two tiers, Silver and Gold. What we could verify are rules: a basic edit carries no watermark on any plan, a watermark appears if you use a paid feature from the free plan, 1080p is advertised on Gold, and a 7-day trial unlocks everything.
Against that, Snip's grid is easy to compare: 60 free minutes a month with a watermark, then 15 EUR for 150 minutes, 30 EUR for 300 and 60 EUR for 900, 30% off yearly, watermark gone from the first paid tier. So the real decision is not the amount, it is the kind of source: a 45 second stream clip and a two hour podcast do not call for the same tool.
